Woodlea celebrates the year that was!

As the year comes to a close, what better way to reflect than to take a trip down memory lane and look back on all the things that our Woodlea community has accomplished together! Here are some of the many highlights which have made 2022 an amazing and fulfilling year.

Awarded Victoria's best masterplanned community

We were honored to take home the UDIA Masterplanned Development Award and the 2021 UDIA Judges’ Award for Metropolitan Melbourne! Central to the success of Woodlea, is the people; not only the amazing team of staff but the sense of community that exists between all the residents!

Front Garden Competition

What was a wonderful competition filled with hard work and beautiful streetscapes, Carmen and Tony May’s hard work paid off, winning $10,000 for their thriving front garden. Thank you to all involved in the competition for your efforts and commitment to making Woodlea a beautiful place to live.

Bacchus Marsh Grammar Expansion

BMG announced in October that it is set to grow its current offering of preschool to Year 8 through to Year 12. This expansion will make BMG the largest independent school in the state’s West, allowing current students to be able to complete their secondary education all in the one location.

State Budget Funding

We were so excited to receive funding allocation for three schools within Woodlea in this year’s state budget. Woodlea looks forward to seeing our educational offering grow, set to be home to Aintree Secondary School and Aintree Specialist School, as well as seeing Aintree Primary School expand.

Flavour Fest

Flavour Fest

The biggest food and music festival in Melbourne’s West – Flavour Fest – was back this year better than ever with a delicious blend of taste sensations, kids activities and chart-topping music artists. In celebration of community, culture and cuisine, it was great to see all walks of life come together and enjoy the epic flavors and sounds at this year’s Flavour Fest.

Flavour Fest was proud to partner with Free to Feed, a social enterprise that creates empowering employment opportunities for people seeking asylum and refugees through the creation of shared food experiences, with a number of cooking workshops to be hosted throughout the day. A big thank you to Melton City Council and everyone involved who helped us put on the biggest fest in the West. Reaching over 16,000 in attendance, the day was one to remember!

Woodlea gets EnviroDevelopment Recertified

With a vision to become Australia’s healthiest community, Woodlea has been EnviroDevelopment Recertified. Recognised for our sustainability commitment and performance, we’ve once again met the requirements of all six sustainability elements: ecosystems, waste, energy, materials, water and community. Symbolic of our communities commitment to the environment, we were proud to see Woodlea residents come together and plant over 5,000 trees at our latest tree planting day

Remembrance Day

Reflecting the spirit and dedication of those who served Australia, we were so proud to invite residents of Woodlea and surrounding communities to visit our large-scale mural this Remembrance Day. Featuring local WW2 veteran Allan Godfrey, WW1 serviceman Private Miller Mack and WW2 service woman Vivian Bullwinkel, the mural was brought to life by Melbourne-based street artist Amanda Newman.

It has been another hugely successful year and we couldn’t have achieved any of it without our tight knit community of 13,000. Thank you for helping us create Melbourne’s best master planned community, we can’t wait for everything 2023 has in store.
