10 Years of Woodlea - A Documentary

Ten years on, Woodlea’s story is best told through the people who brought it to life. This documentary reflects on a decade of vision, care and connection – and the community that continues to grow together.

Voices of Woodlea

As we wrap up our 10 Years of Woodlea celebrations, we’re taking a moment to champion some of the voices that have shaped our community’s success. Our 10 years of Woodlea documentary brings together people who have poured their passion, care and belief into Woodlea – from founders and project leaders to local business owners, educators and young residents growing up within our neighbourhood. Their stories speak to something deeply human: connection. As VIP’s Founder and Executive Chairman KT Lim reflects, “when I grew up, I didn’t even know my neighbour.” At Woodlea, that idea became a promise to build something different. A community where people don’t just exist side by side.

From Paddock to Legacy

Woodlea was little more than a vast patch of dirt on Melbourne’s western frontier. Over the past decade, the vision of a suburb where people could truly stay has been carefully and intentionally brought to life, transforming raw land into a thriving, connected community that has changed the landscape of the west. Guided by an amenity-first approach, we have delivered schools, parks, retail and sports facilities from the very beginning – not as an afterthought, but as a foundation. Woodlea has always been different by design, placing residents first and ensuring lifestyle, nature and connection were embedded into every decision. It’s not just about building homes; it’s about creating places where life happens.

Built Together

Woodlea is the result of an extraordinary collective. With the help of an incredible team of planners, architects, partners, community leaders, and of course, the residents who bring it all to life every day – there has been a shared commitment to doing things well. As one resident voice beautifully captures, “there’s a lot there, and it looks like someone actually cared when they put it together.” That care – for people, for place, and for the future – is Woodlea’s true legacy. Ten years on, what we’re most proud of isn’t just what’s been built, but also the connections formed, the stories shared, and the community that will continue to grow together for many years to come.
