A Strong Start A group of wonderful individuals with diverse backgrounds came together for Woodlea’s first Community Builders workshop, which kicked off on Wednesday the 26th of November with great energy, open conversation, and an atmosphere of getting to know one another. Together, the group created a welcoming space for brainstorming, discussion, and collaboration that set an inspiring tone for the program ahead. Spotting the Strengths Already Here Participants mapped what’s already thriving in our neighbourhood – from community groups, cultural networks and individual skills to parks, schools, transport links and local businesses. Identifying these physical, personal, economic and organisational assets was an empowering reminder that our neighbourhood already has so much to build upon. It became clear that this program is about working together to turn current strengths into new opportunities.
What People Left With The group’s concluding reflections captured the spirit in the room, where attendees expressed how they were “leaving with lots of ideas to support the community” and were “encouraged by common ground and sharing resources”. Many also highlighted their eagerness to continue building connections by swapping details – a perfect sign that the momentum of our Community Builders program is already forming. It was such a strong and inspiring start to the program, and we can’t wait to see what the next workshop brings!
