A Decade of Sustainability

20 parks and areas of green open space, hundreds of thousands of trees planted, EnviroDevelopment certified, and more. We've discovered and shown what is possible for developments across the country.

A Decade of Sustainability

We’ve spent the past decade asking a more important question: what does meaningful environmental change look like in the places we call home?

Growing side by side

Woodlea’s story began with the land itself, before roads were paved or homes were built. From protecting 300 year old River Red Gum trees, to preserving seasonal wetlands and native grasslands, Woodlea have been developed with the intention to preserve its natural beauty, to create a place where community and ecosystems could grow side by side.

Where Nature Leads, We Follow

In the past decade, we’ve dedicated 30% of the community to green open space, delivered 20 parks, and safeguarded ecological corridors like the Deanside Wetlands and Kororoit Creek.

One of our proudest contributions? Australia’s first purpose-built habitat for the endangered Growling Grass Frog – developed in collaboration with Melbourne Water and the Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning (DELWP).

Because protecting a single species can restore an entire ecosystem, making a more liveable future for us all. This is what’s possible when development respects biodiversity.

Local Action, Lasting Change

But the most powerful change comes from community.

Local not-for-profit We Love Aintree, led by Jono Ingram and supported by Woodlea, has mobilised thousands of volunteers to plant tens of thousands of trees, grasses and shrubs – restoring the local biodiversity over the years.

Through a $75,000 state government grant, We Love Aintree has also recently brought the Aintree Community Garden to life, now a flourishing space for food resilience and sustainability education. From veggie scrap growing to kombucha workshops, it’s not just about gardening, it’s about building climate literacy, environmental education and food security into everyday life.
