ANZAC DAY Dawn Service information for Woodlea residents

With millions of Australians across the nation expected to attend ANZAC Day Dawn Services on Thursday 25 April, Woodlea residents are being encouraged to join in recognising the service and sacrifice of members of the Australian Defence Force.

Residents are invited to attend their local dawn service at Caroline Springs RSL, with crowds gathering from 5:45am for the service which is set to commence at 6am.

The new memorial is located next to the WestWaters Entertainment Complex at 10/20 Lake St, Caroline Springs, and will see a representative from Woodlea lay a wreath on behalf of the community.

All in attendance are then invited to a gunfire breakfast following the service with $3 egg and bacon rolls at the WestWaters Hotel.

For those residents who wish to drive, the main road will be closed to assist with numbers, but there will be ample parking available at WestWaters Entertainment Complex.

With a forecasted temperature of 9 degrees, residents are advised to dress warmly for the hour-long service.

Woodlea residents are also encouraged to pay their respects at The Aintree Walk of Honour, a memorial constructed by Woodlea to commemorate Australian troops.

Newly opened, Our Walk of Honour is a community initiative to link wise old minds with younger perspectives and to create of a lasting reflective legacy that speaks the language of young people.

The 500m walk is located at the corner of Fields St and Frontier Ave, featuring educational plaques that commemorate all significant military conflicts involving Australian troops, including the Boer War, WWI, WWII, peacekeeping missions, and the Korean, Vietnam, Gulf and Afghanistan wars.
